Year: 2008 – 2013
I designed, art directed, made and photographed props for Kwes’s website, which was online for 5 years from 2008 – 2013.
Kwes’s website is visualised with real tangible props in a digital setting whilst his printed record covers do the reverse – they are digital designs on real artifacts. This mimics kwes’s musical practise: His handmade foley–sounds end up being digitally synthesised whilst his digital library of sounds get remixed by hand.
The interface is like a visual map that marks where you are, what you’ve been on and how much there is left to visit. This seemed to fit the bill for a musician who is transparent about his process and is extremely playful.
